Black Mirror in Real Life

Both the wired article and Black Mirror video are talking about the same thing, technology. The black mirror video which shows the advance technology where people use mobile phone for everything to paying, to rate people positive and negative. If they rate negative they point of the other person will decrease and they will not privileges. However, the black mirror show has shown technology on very high level. But we are moving towards that and in coming future we will reach their. But China is already one step ahead, and use digital payment method for everything, very little cash is needed for payment. Every person use Alipay or WeChat app for payment at local store, supermarkets for almost everything. The only common thing in both the article is technology. Both of them use mobile phone for payment for everything.

Earl Scruggs Center

Sadly, I was unable to go on the field trip on Thursday due to being  sick . However, I did have the opportunity to go last semester for one of Dr. Nicholas other classes. When I was at the  museum, my  favorite  part was how  interactive  everything was.  They  have an interactive screen table that has a ton of information stored within it, however they also have  interments  to play, radios dials that play  different  music, and also ports for headphones that give you information throughout the  museum. I  had a blast exploring the museum with my friends and also experiencing the different sections and history lessons set up throughout the small space.

SWOT & Personal Branding Articles

When reading the SWOT article, I learned a lot of what I already new. stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This helps in reaching goals and to make yourself more efficient in a future career. When reading the Personal Branding 101 article, I learned about how you can become a brand. Using six different steps that help you stand out: Define you overall aspirations, conduct research, determine your brand attributes, assess your current state, create your game plan, and manage your brand. -Clean Design that is easy to read.  - Create posts that are cleaner and more align with one another. - Have more interactive items.

Tips and Notes for Photography

1. Always fill the frame. Use zoom and your legs to get closer. 2. A good photo is dramatic and exaggerates. 3. Don't center your subject! 4. Create Depth. 5. Connect the Dots. Leading lines can connect the visuals of your photo. 6. Perspective is everything! 7. Lighting is everything! *** Break the Rules and Experiment!!!

Favorite Blogs

https://www.sees.com &  http://www.espn.com I chose these two blogs because they both express concepts that I am interested in. Both blogs were very easy to use and had fun layouts/designs. My favorite part of the sees blows that there is a whole tab and site for Halloween candy! I completely adore halloween so I was super excited to see this! On the ESPN blog I was really impressed by how you could customize it based on the teams you are interested in.

Photography Tips

Composition  - The process in which something is made or arranged.  Photography and composition are very subjective.  Get ideas of what good or creative photography is by looking at magazine and website photos.  Pat's Principle: Incorporate people and activities naturally in photographic compositions.  Shoot tight... Keep empty space to a minimum.  Shoot sharp... Hold the camera still (use a tripod to eliminate fuzzy shots. Use different angels... bend knees, climb lower or higher, etc. Use different camera lenses/ when taking pics with phone, learn what your phone can do. Be aware of light and how it affects the composition. The rule of "Thirds" (1/3's) Take more than just one shot. Carry media cards. Carry batteries. Set your camera time/date. Keep image res high. Experiment w/light settings. Carry lens tissue. Make notes.

My Movie Poster

Image
The movie poster I chose to create is for the movie, "Sweet Home Alabama". This is one of my all-time  favorite  movies. I used a head shot I  found  of Reese Witherspoon from the movie, I also used contrasting colors to make the design pop. I thought about adding the actresses name but  decide  not to  because  I wanted my design to be clean,  simple, and not to cluttered. I really enjoyed making this because I love the movie and all of the cute sayings throughout the film!

My Add

Image
The add I chose to do is on the brand P2Life. It is a brand of  supplements created by swimmers for swimmers. I actually have used this brand  of supplements throughout my college career. I wanted to complete a very simple design, that got the point across immedialty when viewed. This is a  supplement  and  protein brand that is mainly specific for swimmers, which is why I chose to have the water in the background.

Double Rainbow (viral video)

Image
The "Double Rainbow" is a  viral  video that started trending in 2010. This video was filmed by Paul 'Bear' Vasquez  (Double Rainbow Guy), who was once an MMA fighter. The video was filmed in his  front yard, near the Yosemite National Park. The video is basically a very excited and enthusiastic reaction to the natural phenomenon of a  double rainbow .  Timeline: Vasquez posted the video to YouTube  on January 8, 2010.  On July 3, Jimmy Kimmel linked to the video to twitter stating that he and his friend have declared it the, "funniest video in the world." Video quickly gained over one million views. On July 16, the video was featured on  CNN.com, they announced  that the video had gained 4.8 million views.  On July 26, 2010, Vasquez was interviewed by Kimmel on  Jimmy Kimmel Live!  In 2011, Paul appeared in a   commercial , parodying the video. As of April 2018, the video has accumulated more than 45 million views on Youtube.

Is Google Making Us Stupid?

Image
The article, "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" by Nicholas Carr , demonstrates how the internet has affected our overall thinking and our attention spans overtime. Throughout the article, one idea that stood out to me is how personal discipline may play a major role in how we use the internet. Listed in the article are distractions that destroy our attention spans. However, with correct critical thinking and a little bit of concentration we can avoid these distractions entirely.  On another note, I do agree with Nicholas Carr when he discusses how we form connections to many of our electronic devices (cell phones, computers, etc.). They do make our lives easier but they can be easily distracting. Once reading "Is Google Making Us Stupid", it makes you worried and cautious of the fact that we can easily become enslaved to technology. As mentioned above, I do not entirely agree that the distractions can not be overcome, but it does allow the risk of loosing our critical

"The Last DJ" - Tom Petty

Image
The song, " The Last DJ "  was released in 2002 by artist,   Tom Petty . In the song, Petty  complains  about all he sees wrong in the rock era where multinational companies are involved. Overall, the song is about free-form radio coming to an end. In the late '90's, with the corporate takeover of radio stations, came DJ's who were forced to start computerizing  their  playlists and  recording  shows beforehand.  This method  ultimately  saves the owners money and is  actually  more  efficient for radio and public shows.  A  lyric in the song states, "Well, the top brass don't like him talking so much, and he won't play what they say to play." In this verse, he is describing how the "DJ" isn't listening to big corporate heads and still playing and recording music the way DJ's always have . I appreciate Petty''s willingness to speak up on an issue that was so overlooked by  media  in this era of music.   Fun Fact:

Everything Science Knows About Reading On Screens

Now I am really confused. This article by Annie Sneed  is similar but much more compelling for me than the Smithsonian article. A lot of what is sad backs up my original theory that reading on screen is a bad innovation and that paper still needs to be used. In one section the article states, " But this style of reading may come at a cost—Liu noted in his study that sustained attention seems to decline when people read onscreen rather than on paper, and that people also spend less time on in-depth reading. “In digital, we can link in different media, images, sound, and other text, and people can get overwhelmed,” explains Andrew Dillon". I, myself, have always believed that paper has the advantage due to the physicalness of it  and when I read on screen I tend to get a headache easily. However, I am still open minded when it comes to others opinions on the subject. Honestly, it comes down to personal preference in most ways.

Reading in a Whole New Way

Image
After reading the article Smithsonian article, "Reading in a Whole New Way" . My ideas of what I think about new technology have somewhat changed. I used to believe reading was better for everyone in paper form. To me it is more easier and more fun. However, I now think it is a positive change for certain individuals. Some people never read anywhere but online, sometimes because it’s easy to access through their smart phone or they may not receive newspapers, etc. It is also a lot more convent to read online due to imbedded links and definitions that would normally have to be looked up separately when reading paper. I believe this is a real demand in today world and will only get bigger.

The Wilderness Downtown

Just watched The Wilderness Downtown Video and I have to say I defiantly wasn't prepared. Knowing that it is possible for my street and house to be put in to a video like this is super creepy. I also now have a catchy song stuck in my head, that will be very hard to make go away. All in all I am no longer a fan of the video but I am a fan of the technology. Here is the link to play your own video:  http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com

Digital Generation Reflection

Image
I am a child of the Digital Generation. All of my memories from childhood to the present day have involved computers, electronics, and the internet. Growing up I watched the electronic and digital age around me flourish in my home but also in educational settings. The internet and other digital mediums used to be a luxury. However, throughout the past decade it has turned into a need for all age groups.
